The best part? No separating egg whites and beating them till they are fluffy!

My recipe is so simple that even my kids can make these without any help from me.

I figured I better share this awesome recipe with you all, just in case you’re looking for THE BEST waffles out there!

What Makes These Waffles The Best

In my humble opinion, these waffles are the best because the batter is super quick to prepare (no beating egg whites and folding them into a batter). You can mix the whole thing up with a simple whisk or fork!

The texture of the waffles are crisp on the outside with a delightfully fluffy inside, with a hint of butter and vanilla throughout. They really are magical.

I actually found this recipe on AllRecipes and fell in love with it the first time I tried it.

  • Baking Powderthis is what helps give the waffles their perfect rise!
  • Saltif using salted butter, reduce or omit the added salt
  • Butter you can use salted or unsalted
  • MilkI use either 2% or whole milk
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla Extract

The Secret To Successful Waffles

Are you ready for the secret trick that makes these waffles the absolute BEST?!

Warm Milk.

Yup, that’s it! And here’s why – the warm milk allows the melted butter to stay in a liquid, without seizing up and clumping. This means the butter is woven beautifully through each and every waffle, every little waffle pocket and you can really taste it!

To warm the milk, I simply measure it out into a microwaveable measuring cup and heat it in the microwave for just 1 minute. You don’t want it hot, just warm.

Tips for Keeping Waffles Warm

If you’re not going to enjoy the waffles straight off the waffle iron, place them in a single layer on a wire cooling rack.

  • Turn your oven to the “warm” setting or about 220 degrees F. and place the fresh waffles in an even layer in the oven until ready to enjoy.

PRO TIP: Unlike pancakes, where you can toss them all on top of each other to keep them warm, waffles have a crispy outer coating that is highly desirable. If you stack them while they’re hot, they are going to create steam and quickly loose that crispiness.

Can You Freeze Waffles?

YES! These waffles are great for storing in the freezer and popping straight into the toaster oven.

Place the cooled waffles in a zip close bag and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.

I make a triple batch of these and my kids can enjoy them throughout the week. We love them with fresh berries, whipped cream and of course a little syrup never hurts!

Wow! These were great! I followed the recipe (reduced the salt because the butter was salted, as the recipe notes indicate) and the waffles were tasty and fluffy. Thanks for the recipe!

I agree about the taste but it didn’t make 6 waffles, it made 4. Very disappointed. I don’t want to make a second batch when I’m only cooking for 3. Next time will be better because my new rule for all pancakes and waffles; double any recipe I’ve never done before.

Oh dear. These waffles had the perfect consistency but we too can taste the bitter baking powder. Ours isn’t expired, I think there’s just too much in the receipe. I’m going to have to go back to whisking my egg whites separately.

So true! Horrible taste, there’s way too much soda in the recipe (I have a fresh pack if the author decides to chime in). In culinary school there’s a rule to use 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda per every 1 cup of flour. So you can see that she uses more than double of this amount from recommended ratio. Don’t add so much soda and you’ll be fine !

    2. I’m sorry you didn’t like the taste Katy. I’ve never had that experience of tasting the baking powder, and with hundreds of 5 star reviews, I’m thinking you might be in the minority here. I’m wondering if you used tablespoons rather than teaspoons?

    3. 1 star
I followed this recipe exactly and it turned out like soup. Worst waffle recipe I’ve ever seen. Even extra flour did not salvage it

    4. 4 stars
Hello! I recommend using heavy heaping cream for 1 cup then 1/2 cup water instead of milk then just 1 tsp of baking powder they turned out so good after this!

    5. 5 stars
I’m not sure what you’ve done wrong but these come out perfect everytime for me! And I use the aluminum free baking POWDER. Kids love this, hell my toddler tears it up.

  3. 4 stars
Ran out of milk so I used 1 cup creamer + 1/2 cup water and skipped the vanilla. I don’t know if it was the swap of ingredients or maybe the waffle maker I have but these were basically just pancakes in waffle shape. I’m looking for that light and fluffy inside with crispy outside. Nonetheless the recipe was very easy and still tasted delicious

They were good at the start but the after taste is very bitter and tastes like soap and I was trying to make these for me and my wifey. But we only took a few bites before we both thought the after taste was like soap

    1. Hi Teddy, it sounds like your baking powder is expired if you’re having a bitter taste. I would look at tossing that one and buying a new package.

    2. 5 stars
With all due respect I think those having issues are doing something wrong. I am a home taught baker by trade and had zero issues with this recipe. I have a wheat allergy, I even substituted the flour for Bobs Red Mill 1:1 GF flour. Perfect texture perfect flavor.

    1. 3 stars
Well I am a kid (6th grade)and I thought it was good and I followed the directions and they turned out pretty good. One thing it was little different taste than other recipes but it was good. I don’t know but my family and I are having some belly problems and I don’t know if it’s because of the food.‍♂️

  5. This is our go-to recipe. I make a batch for the week or sometimes for the freezer. The kids can just toast them on their own.. In an effort to be healthier I substituted the flour for organic whole wheat spelt flour and they are still soooo good.

    1. Does your baking powder contain aluminum? If so, that could be why your waffles were bitter.

  6. 5 stars
These came out perfect. I actually used oil instead of butter just because I didn’t have butter and they were still just as good.

    1. 5 stars
Came out perfect! I changed nothing in the recipe. It was crispy on the outside as stated. I will use it again!

    2. 5 stars
These were great! Crispy outside and light and fluffy inside. I made whip cream and strawberry compote for the toppings. Will use this recipe again! Thank you for sharing

  7. 5 stars
I’ve been trying all the online waffle recipes, and they’ve all be disappointing. This one though, chef’s kiss! It’s perfect! Make sure the eggs, butter, and milk are all warmed, and they come out perfect!

  8. 5 stars
These waffles were perfect! I must have a small waffle , ended up with 8 waffles. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside

  9. 5 stars
I used this recipe to make strawberry waffles for my grandchildren and they love them..

    1. I’m sorry Nikki, is it possible you forgot to add the baking powder? Or maybe your baking powder is expired?

  10. 5 stars
I recently just got a waffle maker and I’m SO glad I stumbled upon this recipe right away! I loved all of the wonderful reviews! This recipe is PERFECT AS IS! I did take another gals advice to substitute 1 cup of flour for 1 cup of protein powder. I’ve done vanilla and chocolate protein and both have turned out great! My husband and 2.5 year old love these! One batch makes 6 large waffles. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe!

  11. 5 stars
The BEST waffle recipe in the USA! It was simple and delicious to make. Also, make and freeze the rest for pop in the toaster for the next day. I ADDED my favorite pecans to the batter mix to my Mini waffle maker. Thank you!!

  12. 5 stars
Wow! I never bake anything that good!! My kids said they were light, airy, and so delicious!! Thank you!! This will be our newest breakfast item for the summer!

New recipe for me. New double waffle maker. My menfolk are giving me a standing ovation! Thank you, friends!

  14. 5 stars
Oh my finally the best waffles ever thank you for the tip my waffles where crispy on outside fluffy inside thank you. I was out of vanilla extract so I put lemon ext. Paired with my blueberries heaven.

  15. Really great recipe!! I made extra batches to freeze for easy mornings. I have a round Cuisinart waffle maker and this recipe makes just shy of 4 waffles. I also add cinnamon to the fry ingredients about a tsp. I don’t make any baked good without cinnamon.

  16. 4 stars
This recipe was actually good. I let the batter sit for at least five minutes while I cleaned and preheated my waffle iron. It made almost four big waffles.

  17. 2 stars
Not sure what went wrong but I followed to the T and they didn’t rise in my waffle maker. I made waffle skeletons lol

    1. 2 stars
Same. I forgot that waffle mix has to rest at least 5 minutes before heating. I’m guessing the author didn’t realize it either. I passed them off as waffle tortillas and rolled them up with ingredients inside. Note to self: wake up before cooking and find a better recipe.

    2. 1 star
Same here, didn’t work for me. Not sweet enough and didn’t rise at all. Will look for another recipe

This is a great basic waffle recipe! smooth sailing, I add whatever additional flavours I like depending on if I want sweet or savory

  20. 5 stars
It worked out quite well. Smelling the warm milk as it was pressed into the waffle iron. Next time I’ll use buttermilk

  21. 5 stars
Fast and easy. My grandson “helped” and he loves them. He gets out the waffle iron whenever he comes over, and I keep some in the freezer, just in case

  22. Love the recipe hard to read with ridiculous amount of ads that you can’t “skip” very annoying.

  23. 5 stars
Loved them. Simple easy recipe. I just did half the recipe as I am only one eating them. Tasted great.
