Stuffing meatballs with cheese

My kids couldn’t get enough of these tasty little meatballs. They kept digging in to find the ooey-gooey cheese filled centers.

In fact, my picky four year old stated that it was the “best. dinner. ever.”

How To Make In Slow Cooker

Once you’ve shaped your meatballs and stuffed them with the cheese, simply pour your favorite jarred pasta sauce, or my homemade Marinara Sauce into the bottom of your slow cooker.

Place the meatballs into the sauce and let the slow cooker cook on LOW for just 4 hours.

Some cheese may want to ooze out of the meatballs, but that’s totally fine!

What To Serve With Stuffed Meatballs

Just before the meatballs are cooked, boil up some spaghetti noodles to serve with them. Here are some more great ideas to serve with your cheese stuffed meatballs…

Instructions

  • In large bowl, mix beef, bread crumbs, milk egg, salt and pepper with hands until well combined. Shape mixture into small balls about the size of a Ping-Pong ball.
  • With finger, make hole in 1 ball but do not go all the way through. Place 1 piece of cheese in hole; enclose cheese by pinching hole back together. Repeat with remaining beef mixture and cheese pieces.
  • Spray 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Pour pasta sauce into cooker. Place meatballs in sauce.
  • Cover; cook on Low heat setting 4 hours.
  • About 25 to 30 minutes before meatballs are done, cook pasta as directed on package; drain.
Notes
  • Try switching out the mozzarella cheese sticks with ones of sharp Cheddar cheese or Colby-Monterey Jack cheese blend.
  • Add a teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder and parsley flakes to the beef mixture for an even bigger boost of flavor!

  2. How exciting to be working with Pillsbury! Love there stuff.
These meatballs look amazing! Love all that cheesy goodness. I’m new to your blog and love what I see. Started following you on twitter and can’t wait to see what you’re up to next. 🙂

  3. My crockpot has 4 cook settings. High for 4 or 6 hours. Low for 8 or 10 hours. Would you suggest I cook the meatballs on the 4 hour high setting or put it on the 8 hour low setting only letting the meatballs cook for 4 hours? Thanks!

  4. Ummm I love this idea!! I plan to utilize my crock-pot more often…it’s cooking up some pork roast , onion, and rice as we speak for shredded pork tacos tonight! This recipe will have to be next up! YUM!
