I had seen this easy recipe using a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and apple pie filling all over Instagram and on a whim I grabbed the two ingredients before heading out camping with the family.

After combining the two ingredients together I baked them up in a dutch oven. We ate this deliciousness by a campfire and everyone was so happy!

Apple Cinnamon Roll Bake

Ever since that evening by the campfire, we’ve made this recipe at least a dozen more times because it’s always such a hit.

I’m excited to share it with you today!!

Ingredients Needed

You’ll only need to grab two things from the store to make this yummy breakfast or brunch or even dessert treat…

  • Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon Rolls (the big kind that actually roll up)
  • Apple Pie Filling (canned)

Ingredients for cinnamon roll bake in baking dish.

One of the main reasons I love this recipe is because it’s just these two ingredients and it takes only a few minutes to prepare.

Which means I have more time to be present with my family and don’t have to spend so much extra time in the kitchen.

BAKE CINNAMON ROLLS

Place the cinnamon rolls into a preheated 350 degree F. oven for 45 to 50 minutes, until the center is baked through and the top is golden brown.

DRIZZLE WITH ICING

While the cinnamon roll bake is still warm from the oven, stir up the icing that was previously set aside and drizzle it over the top. Make sure to enjoy this dish while it’s still warm for that extra gooey deliciousness!

If you’re looking for a delicious breakfast to serve company for the holidays, this is definitely it. Not only does it taste delicious, but your home will smell fabulous and inviting.

One Tube or Two?

For this recipe, I’m using two tubes of pillsbury cinnamon rolls because it’s plenty to feed my large family. This recipe should feed about 8 to 10 people

If you want to halve the recipe, to feed a smaller crowd, you definitely can.

*Baking times will be shorter for a half batch (about 25 to 30 minutes).

If you’re serving it as a warm dessert you could also serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

How To Make Ahead & Store

Make Ahead:

Wanna get a head start on this recipe? You can easily prepare the cinnamon rolls ahead of time by combining it all in the casserole dish. Cover and place in the fridge overnight.

In the morning, simply uncover and bake!

I wouldn’t prepare this further than 24 hours in advance prior to baking.

Storing:

After the cinnamon roll bake has finished cooking, you can cool to room temperature, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

Since I think this is best served warm, I would scoop out a serving and pop it in the microwave for about 15 to 30 seconds to heat up and enjoy!

    1. Sure! If you’re baking it ahead of time I would just reheat the whole dish in the oven (covered with foil) until it’s heated through again.

Did you always use a metal pan? I used a glass baking dish and found the bottom was left doughy and uncooked while top was beautifully browned.
    Tips????….

    1. Yes, a metal pan will definitely cook the bottom faster. If you find that the bottom is not done in a glass dish you can cover the top lightly with foil and continue baking until the bottom is fully cooked.

  2. Awesome, cut recipe in half for just the 2 of us . It was so good, served with vanilla ice cream on top. So good and easy! Thank you.

  3. I laugh at the “2 ingredients” description, maybe you should read the ingredients label on those cans, way more than 2

I purchased the 2 ingredients quite some time ago doubling the recipe. Just noticed the cinnamon rolls expiration date was 05/20. Im still going to make it tomorrow. Other recipes called for thick cream but didn’t say how much baking time or temperature. This the recipe I was looking for. Thank you

I served this for Easter Morning breakfast. It was absolutely delish. Everyone loved it!! Definitely will make again.

I made the recipe as written, but added a crumble to the top made up of 1c flour, 1.5c brown sugar and a stick of softened butter. Turned out so good, we can’t stop eating it!!!

  7. I just made this in the 1/2 batch size. I used a glass oval baker instead of a pan which might explain why it took about 45 minutes to bake vs the suggested 30. It is very easy and very sweet. I can see why you might want to serve something savory with it like scrambled eggs.

    1. Yes, you can use the smaller tubes of cinnamon rolls for this bake. You’ll want to just use close to the same volume in ounces as the larger tubes (around 35oz). The smaller can of rolls don’t have the same consistency and shape, so the recipe wont look exactly the same, but let’s be real… it’ll still taste amazing! 🙂
