When the craving for a soft and buttery breadstick hits, satisfy it with these Small Batch Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks!
Remember last week when I invited you into my kitchen and showed you all the fun things I did to remodel it? Well… one of my newest favorite gadgets is my new Blendtec Designer 725 blender.
It’s ahhhhh-mazing!!
I have used my new blender nearly every single day, sometimes more than once a day since I opened the box. The super 3.8 peak horsepower motor and several preprogrammed blend speeds can whip up just about any concoction in no time!
Then there is the Twister Jar! Ultra thick shakes, nut butters, hummus, baby food and even bread dough are just a few seconds away with this bad boy!
I’m so in love with this awesome duo that I want to give one of you the chance to WIN them!
But first…
Let me show you how you can make breadsticks in your blender…
WHAT?!
Yes.
Breadsticks in your blender!
I realize I could have shown you how to make a smoothie or a shake, or even some almond butter…
But have you ever made a bowl of spaghetti or a plate of lasagna and thought… man, I could really go for some breadsticks right now!
Not a giant batch, but just enough to satisfy that craving. Well, here ya go!
With this simple recipe you can have 4 light and fluffy breadsticks that are slathered in a garlic and rosemary infused butter then sprinkled with parmesan cheese, in no time!
It couldn’t be easier too!
Just pop a little warm water, yeast and sugar in your twister jar and pulse 2 times. Let the yeast activate and then add the salt, olive oil and flour. Pulse about 10 more times and twist the Twister Jar lid counter clockwise until a dough ball forms. Let it sit there and double in size.
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts, roll into ropes and place in a small baking dish. Lightly cover it and let it rise again until it’s doubled in size.
Pop them in the oven and bake until golden brown!
As soon as they come out of the oven brush them down with a mixture of melted butter, crushed rosemary and lots of garlic salt.
Oh man… these breadsticks are so good!
It’s probably a good thing for my will power that I make these in a small batch.
Don’t be afraid of working with yeast with this super simple recipe. Let the Twister Jar do the work for you!
If you don’t have the Twister Jar yet, you can still make this recipe! Check out the notes section of the recipe for how to do it.
These breadsticks are light and fluffy on the inside and buttery, garlicky and cheesy on the outside. The perfect side to any dish!

Small Batch Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup water, warm
- 1 tsp active yeast, dry
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp olive oil
- 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Butter Topping:
- 3 tbsp butter, melted, divided
- 1/4 tsp garlic salt
- 1/8 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
- 1/2 tbsp parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- Add the first 3 ingredients to the Twister Jar and place the Twister Lid on jar. Hold the Twister Lid and with other hand press "Pulse" 2 times and allow yeast to proof 5 to 10 minutes.
- Add the salt, olive oil and flour in that order and place Twister Lid on jar. Hold Twister Lid and with other hand press "Pulse" 6 to 8 times until all the flour is incorporated and dough ball forms. Remember to turn Twister Lid counter-clockwise during blending.
- Allow the dough to rise in the jar with the lid secure until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Remove dough from Twister Jar and divide into 4 equal size balls. Roll the balls into ropes and place in a lightly greased baking pan or on a baking sheet. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small dish and brush the tops of the breadsticks. Lightly cover with a tea towel and let rise again until double in size.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes (or until golden brown) in a 375 degree F oven.
- Combine the butter topping ingredients in a small bowl and brush over the breadsticks once they come out of the oven. Enjoy hot!

Would you recommend freezing before or after baking? Can you bake them from frozen?
Valerie Samderd
Very good recipe – I’ve tried a few other small batch bread recipes that were not successful, but these were quite good. Perfect portion size also. Thank you for posting!
Susan
An excellent recipe. I substituted nutritional yeast for the Parmesan. Used a spice grinder to blitz the rosemary and “nooch”. So good! Thank you
Connie
Can you freeze these breadsticks
Shawn
Yes, you can freeze them! Enjoy!
Connie
How would recommend to freeze them. Or can you prepare one day and serve like fresh next day ?

Great recipe that I’ve made several times now with great success. The first time I made 4 breadsticks. The next time I made focaccia and once I made two larger sub rolls. Perfect for two!!
Shawn
Ohh! Love the different types of bread you’ve made with it! Sounds fantastic!

I made them tonight and they were fantastic!! I did make some adjustments….. I don’t own the bender she has so I just used my food processer and that worked just fine. The only thing that was different for me was I had to pulse the ingredients more to form my dough. I then tripled the recipe because of my large family, but I made the dough in separate batches, not just one big thing. I left one to rise in the food processor and put the other two in bowls with some olive oil and a damp towel and that work just the same. Finally, we as a family do not like garlic that much so I did 1/2 of what is called for. Altogether it was a great recipe!!!
Shawn
I’m so glad you enjoyed them!!

can you use instant yeast? Also if you can will it be the same amount?
Shawn
Yes, and same amount!

I need to make these ASAP 🙂 my little bullet blender I had from the 90s just died last weekend. I blend my eggs before I scramble them 🙂

The recipe is a nice touch, BUT it is attached to a VERY VERY expensive blender. I am WAY past spending that kind of money on kitchen equipment. I understand that Pinterest is not a charitable organization. But it needs to start being careful about when to be commercial and when to be educational. Could it be the angry reader was responding to what she felt was a “come on’? Maybe that small scale bread recipe was within her reach financially but the blender was not? With as many readers as there are on “P” we need to weigh our words carefully. Bloggers should recognize this fact. What was an innocent “pitch” for an overpriced blender hit a very sour note with a reader. Ladies I only ask that before you write, you picture all your readers. Not just those that live like you, spend like you, live your lifestyle but a diverse economic and social organism that covers the globe. Our backyard has expanded and we need to be good neighbors. Won’t you be? Won’t you be a neighbor?B. Karr

Have you tried following the by-hand directions under “Notes”? Might be helpful to do so before deciding it’s your place to lecture the community when they’re sharing their recipes to you for free. She obviously already took the blender thing into consideration too.

Hi. I was looking for a small garlic bread and landed on your page. Tried it today n it came out perfect with potato soup. The only thing I changed was using garlic powder instead of garlic salt as I didn’t have it n increased salt to 1/2 tsp. Also I prepared it in wreath design n it looked so pretty. Thank you
Shawn
Sounds like a great swap! So glad you enjoyed it!

This recipe is absolute garbage. The ratio of liquid to flour makes 0 sense and will be a dry mess if you do not have the mixer.
Kelly
I did it in a bowl with a wooden spoon and kneaded the dough by hand several minutes and they turned out fantastic! Don’t knock it till you try it
Shawn
So glad you enjoyed them Kelly! 🙂

Wow! Such anger! I make these all the time using my Cuisinart Food Processor…they come out great! Liquid to flour ratio is spot on!
Tammy

Thanks! I actually found my flour jar already made at a store in my town called Thai Pan Trading. Not sure if they’re Nationwide, or not? Try checking out craft stores or maybe even TJMaxx?
