Easy Ranch Dressing with dried herbs
This recipe makes 1 pint of dressing, perfect for meal prepping for the week!
Ingredients Needed
Here’s the basic list of pantry ingredients you’ll need to make this homemade ranch dressing. As always, you can find the full list of ingredients located in the printable recipe card below.
- Mayonnaise – I like to use an avocado oil mayo or olive oil mayo for the best light flavor. The mayo is crucial for that creamy texture and taste, so don’t skip it!
- Sour Cream – you can swap the sour cream for plain greek yogurt to add extra protein to the dressing.
- Milk – Rather than buttermilk (because I usually never have this on hand) I’m using milk with the addition of lemon juice to create that classic buttermilk ranch flavor.
- Lemon Juice – if you don’t have fresh lemon juice on hand you can swap with white vinegar!
- Dried Herbs – a mixture of my favorite dried herbs – dill, parsley and chives to bring out that classic ranch flavor
- Seasonings – round out the whole dressing with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.

How To Make Ranch Dressing
It couldn’t be easier to whip up a jar of rich and creamy ranch dressing. It’s as simple as combining all the ingredients together and whisking until smooth.

Control The Consistency
If you like your dressing a little more runny, add more milk to make it thinner.
Looking for more of a veggie dip? Reduce the milk and try adding in more sour cream for a little more tang and thickness.

Make Ahead and Storage
This homemade ranch dressing will last for up to 7 days in the fridge, and sometimes even longer depending on the expiration date of your ingredients used.
I do not recommend freezing ranch dressing. The reason for this is because after it’s been frozen the ingredients tend to “break” and the consistency will not be smooth and creamy anymore.

I am sure I don’t have to tell you what to serve this homemade ranch dressing with. Let’s be real, ranch goes with just about anything.
So go and enjoy it. Let me know what you think in the comments!
