This Viral Pickle Dip recipe is the perfect pool-side snack. It’s loaded with chopped pickles, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon bits and green onions in a creamy ranch-based dip.
One taste and you’ll see why this pickle recipe is blowing up online.

Why This Recipe Works
Most pickle dip recipes lean heavy on mayo or straight cream cheese, which can feel heavy and boring. Swapping in Greek yogurt alongside the whipped cream cheese and sour cream keeps things lighter and adds a little extra tang that plays well with the pickle brine. The sharp cheddar adds bite, the bacon adds smoke and crunch, and the ranch seasoning rounds out the flavor so you’re not just tasting “pickle” and “creamy”… you’re tasting a fully seasoned dip.
Ingredients Needed
Here’s the basic list of ingredients you’ll need to make this creamy pickle dip. As always, you can find the full list of ingredients located in the printable recipe card below.
- Dill Pickles – preferably Grillo Pickles. You can find these in the refrigerated section of the grocery store by the lunch meats and sliced cheese.
- Plain Greek Yogurt – this keeps the dip nice and light with the perfect amount of tang.
- Sour Cream – another element of creamy and tang.
- Whipped Cream Cheese – using the whipped version allows us to make the dip easily with a spoon. If you use regular cream cheese you’ll want to soften it first and then whip it with a hand mixer so it’s nice and spreadable.
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese – I prefer a sharp cheddar because it’s extra flavorful and really stands out in the dip.
- Bacon – you can crisp up your own or keep it simple with packaged bacon bits. *Home cooked bacon will definitely add more flavor to the dip.
- Green Onions – add a nice pop of flavor and color to the dip
- Ranch Seasoning Mix – this rounds out the whole dip giving it a good amount of herbs and flavor in each bite.

How To Make It
This pickle dip comes together so easy – bonus points for serving it in the Grillo’s pickle tub like everyone who is making it on tik-tok and Instagram!
Create the Creamy Base
Combine the plain Greek yogurt, sour cream and whipped cream cheese in a large bowl. Add in the ranch seasoning mix and give it a good stir until it’s all combined.

Chop The Pickles
The most tedious part of making this dip is the chopping of pickles. I found a solution!
I use my handy veggie chopper and the task of chopping pickles is done in a flash. Plus all the pickles are even in size, making the dip easy to enjoy.
PRO TIP: You can use my popular recipe for Homemade Canned Dill Pickles in place of the Grillo’s Pickles.

Bring it All Together
Once you’ve added the pickles to the creamy dip, fold in the cheese (I can’t say that without thinking about that one episode of Schitt’s Creek… iykyk), bacon bits and green onions.
Give it a good mix.

At about this time I start pulling out my potato chips. ‘Cause she ready.
Tips for the best pickle dip
- Extra Pickle Brine? Excess brine will water down the dip, so pat the chopped pickles dry with a paper towel before mixing. If you want your dip a little thinner, go ahead and add more brine.
- Make it ahead. This dip actually tastes better the next day, once everything has had time to meld.
- Customize the heat. A dash of hot sauce or some chopped jalapeños takes this dip in a spicier direction if that’s your thing.
- Bacon shortcut. Store-bought real bacon bits work great here if you don’t want to fry and crumble your own.

What To Serve with pickle dip
This creamy pickle dip is perfect for serving with wavy potato chips, kettle chips, pretzel chips, sliced cucumbers, carrot sticks and so much more.
My personal favorite dipping utensil is wavy potato chips. It’s *chef kiss*
Make Ahead and storage
Pickle dip does very well when made ahead because the flavors in the dip have a chance to meld together and they seem to brighten and get even better! You can make creamy pickle dip and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 5 days.
Give the dip a quick stir before serving, as the dairy may release a little liquid over time.
I do NOT recommend freezing the pickle dip because the cream cheese and sour cream can turn grainy and watery once defrosted.
