How To Make Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers
It’s super simple to put this easy popper recipe together! Remember to preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and prepare a baking sheet with foil and baking spray.
Prepare Jalapeños
Use gloves or extra care when slicing the jalapeños in half, lengthwise. use a small spoon to scoop out all the seeds and membranes to hollow out the jalapeño halves. Set aside.
PRO TIP: If you don’t have gloves and are sensitive to jalapeño juices, you can use two sandwich bags over your hands. Be careful not to touch your eyes!
Make Filling
In a medium bowl mix together the cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, salt and black pepper until fully combined.
Fill the Jalapeños
Spoon the mixture into the peppers, about 1 Tablespoon per pepper. I use a butter knife to smooth the filling out flat inside the peppers.
Wrap Poppers with Bacon
Use a half strip of bacon to wrap around the filled jalapeño popper and place on the prepared baking sheet.
PRO TIP: It’s easier to cover more of the pepper if you start wrapping the bacon at a diagonal angle.
Bake
The Jalapeños need to bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy. Carefully remove from the baking sheet and enjoy while warm.
Recipe Tips and Variations
- Make sure to use regular cut bacon, not thick cut. Otherwise it will take too long to bake and not be crispy!
- Serve these poppers with a side of sour cream or salsa.
- You can swap out cheddar cheese with another mild-flavored or spicy cheese (like pepper jack) for a fun twist!
How To Store Jalapeño Poppers
Make Ahead: Follow recipe as directed and instead of baking, transfer raw wrapped poppers to an air tight container and refrigerate up to 2 days before baking.
Refrigerate: Once cooled, transfer to an air tight container and store refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat to serve.
Freezing: Not recommended. The texture can become mushy and grainy when frozen/thawed.
