The lack of restaurants in my new small town is killing me.

It’s forcing me to try and re-create some of my favorite meals from back home. One of my favorite places to drive thru for a quick lunch was Sonic. Not only do I completely miss their $1 happy hour {so long Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper}, but their chili cheese crunch wraps have been on my mind a lot lately.

There is nothing crazy and awe– inspiring about this recipe. It’s quite simple really.

But here in Canada the Hispanic section is lacking. {that’s putting it nicely}

In fact, I had to make these tortillas from scratch, and I am certainly never going back to store bought even when I make it back to the US. I’ll be sharing that recipe with you later on though.

Chili Cheese Crunch Wrap

What makes these Chili Cheese Crunch Wraps so great is how quickly they come together for a tasty {and even slightly healthy} lunch or dinner. I love that crunch you get from the chips when you take a big bite of soft tortilla. It’s a delightful combination.

You should also try a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with cool ranch Doritos stuffed inside. {don’t knock it till you’ve tried it}

A bowl of chips sitting on a table

To make the Chili Cheese Crunch Wrap just layer some of your favorite chili (try my homemade chili recipe!) in the center of your tortilla then sprinkle with some low fat cheddar cheese and top with come crunchy corn chips.

I used these tasty Masa Crisps from NatureBox instead of corn chips.

  1. Right now, clementines since they are available inexpensively. Year round, salsa with anything- chips, celery, cheese.

  2. Great idea to add that crunch! I love crumbling crackers over my chick pea salads….Yup…our hispanic grocery section is pretty limited (even in Toronto it is very tough finding enchilada sauce). But tortillas are widely available in grocery stores here. I think it’s a reflection on the make up of the population.

  3. I’m so addicted to Sonic Happy Hour drinks it’s not even funny! I feel your pain and wish I could overnight you a Route 44 Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper.

    As much as I go to Sonic I never really eat their food, but I definitely will have to try their chili cheese crunch wrap…or just make it at home like you:)

  4. I love veggies with hummus or greek yogurt parfaits. If I’m feeling unhealthy, kettlecorn or chips & salsa hit the spot!

  5. I am sorry you are isolated from good ol’ American fast food and mexican food!!! At least these wraps and chips are awesome!

  6. I can’t imagine moving so far away – especially AZ to Canada. What a difference! I remember missing sourdough something fierce when we were in Arizona (from SF). These wraps will be a perfect dinner!

  7. I have never heard of NatureBox but I am definitely going to be checking them out. I need more variety of healthy snacks!

  8. We have a Sonic right up the road from my house…can you believe I’ve never had a chili cheese wrap from there? Totally doing that for lunch SOON!!! I love that you used homemade tortillas..I love LOVE LOVE them, but hardly ever take the time to make them.

    1. The homemade tortillas are a lot of work, but totally worth it! I made a big batch that should have lasted us 2 weeks, but it was gone in 2 days… lol, they are DANG good!

    1. Aren’t they addicting?! I had to put them away so I wouldn’t eat them all in one sitting! LOL

  9. Forgot, I do love hummus very, very much. Especially roasted red pepper hummus!! Yummy!! Sorry about no restaurants in your new town!! But, you know, you will probably be a lot healthier for it!! Good luck!! Love your recipe, can’t wait for the recipe for the tortillas! I’m definitely trying this!!!!!

    1. Thanks Nancy! I think it’s definitely a good thing there aren’t too many places here. It’s actually saving me money and slimming the waist!

  10. My favorite go-to snack is chips, which I should lay off of and eat healthier!! Also love peanut butter and an apple!! Maybe I should say, anything I find at the moment I’m hungry! Ha!
