First of all, let me just say, “Happy Mother’s Day!” to all my lovely mama’s out there!
I got a new gizmo for my Mother’s Day, and I couldn’t wait to try it out! An ice cream maker! It’s an electric one made by Cuisinart. It is so simple and easy to use, I am sure we are going to use it at least once a week here. It not only makes ice cream, but it also does frozen yogurt and sorbet! Also, very affordable for only $29.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond!
I thought I would try to make a cool refreshing treat of Kiwi Sorbet. Here’s what you’ll need if you want to make it too:
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
6-7 ripe Kiwi
2 tbsp Lemon Juice
Start by peeling the brown furry-ness off, and giving it a nice chop.
In a small sauce pan bring the 1 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar to a boil to make a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let it cool. ( I poured the syrup into a glass measuring cup and put that into an ice bath to hurry up the cool down time).
Pour your kiwi puree, syrup, and 2 tbsp lemon juice into the ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. For mine, you just turn it on and wait about 25-30 min, then…..
VOILA! Kiwi Sorbet!!
The color is magnificent, the taste is decadent, and the calories…minimal!
