Hey guys!
I hope you all had a great Halloween! The temperature here has really dropped and I can see snow on the nearby mountain tops; so it was definitely a cold Halloween for us. My kids didn’t last very long, so we booked it back home and warmed up with some hot chocolate. We laid out the Halloween goodies on the living room floor only to discover that mini bags of chips are the new “candy” up here in Canada… and yes, there were even a few bags of ketchup flavored (or should I say “flavoured“) chips in the mix.
So here’s the deal- I thought it would be fun to share with you a few things I’m obsessing over as a new Saturday blog feature! We can talk fashion, technology, products, shows, games, and of course… food! 🙂 Then you can share what you’re obsessing over in the comments below!
FASHION:
If you’re following me on Instagram, you may have noticed a few pictures of my awesomely painted nails. Back in April I bought this Sally Hansen Gel Polish Nail Kit so I could paint my fingernails without having to make an appointment at the nail salon.
I L.O.V.E. it!
It can be a little tricky at first, but the more and more I do my nails, the better I get at it. Oh, and my sister-in-law just opened a beauty salon in St. George, Utah (Blow Beauty) and she shared a trick with me on how to get that glitter effect without adding loads of built-up nail polish. Just buy some craft glitter, which is significantly cheaper (and gives you a larger choice of colors), then use a small paint brush and dab on the glitter before you use your top coat to seal it in!
Are you in to doing your nails?
Entertainment:
My husband and I have a routine that we follow when it comes to TV. We wait until the shows come out on Netflix to watch. Right now we are watching Happy Endings. This show is “AhMaaaazing!”
This show makes me laugh out loud. It’s hilarious, my peeps! If you want to know what I’m like in real life, I’m most like Penny from this show… minus the fact that she has dated a new guy in pretty much every episode… no, wait… yeah, that was me before I got married.
My guilty pleasure show? Pretty Little Liars.
I usually watch this show during the daytime (on Netfilx) while I fold laundry.
I have to admit that the plot is sort of out played after season 3, but I can’t. stop. watching. Who is this A character?!?! And why do these high schoolers seriously make me feel so fashionably challenged?!
It sucks you in, and keeps you guessing. I’m obsessed.
What shows are you watching?
Fitness:
I recently signed up for Zumba at my local rec center, and I love it! I love it so much that I went and bought this Zumba Fitness Core game for my Xbox Kinect.
Now I can look ridiculous in the comfort of my own home. I just got done doing a workout from this game and it was so much fun. Who doesn’t love to dance and get a good workout at the same time? The disk lets you customize your workout with different levels of difficulty, different songs, and you can even do two player.
I’ve also been adding in different Jillian Michael’s DVD workouts throughout the week like: 30 Day Shred, 6 Week Six Pack, and Killer Buns and Thighs. I love that they are short and pack a powerful punch. I can get a quick workout in before the kids wake up and also have time to get some work done on the blog!
How are you getting your sweat on?
Social Media:
I’m completely obsessed with Facebook. Are you following me yet?
Last week my page flew past 10,000 followers!! I’m actually hosting a giveaway with Gourmet Gardens on my page right now! I’m giving away a cooler full of my favorite herbs and spices, so make sure you ENTER soon, because it ends on Monday!
I’m also all over Pinterest right now too. Have you seen my boards yet?!? I have them all organized so it’s easy to follow specific things like “Dinner Ideas :: Poultry ::” or boards like “Thanksgiving” and “Elf on the Shelf“! It’s a great way to keep all your ideas, recipes, inspirations and what-not organized in a beautiful way.
What Social Media sites can you not get enough of?
Food:
It’s straight up soup weather right now. So I’m totally obsessed with this Roasted Corn and Potato Chowder that I posted earlier this week. Serve that along with the Easy Cheesy Monkey Bread Rolls and it’s a delicious dinner that will warm up the body.
I’m also completely obsessed with this Homemade White Hot Chocolate from Gimme Some Oven. It’s all I think about these days. It’s sweet, creamy and completely addictive.
What foods are you obsessed with right now?
Well, that does it for this week. I hope you enjoyed this post! Make sure to let me know what you’re obsessing over, I can’t wait to hear all about it!!
Love,
Shawn 🙂

I follow you all over social media and can I say I am ALWAYs hungry after seeing a post on Facebook/Pinterest/Instagram even if I just ate! My latest crave is from the restaurant Chili’s and its called the margarita flatbread. Absolutely delicious and I wished I could recreate at home but I do not have that talent. So feel free create it for me 😉
Shawn
Wow, well… you are awesome! 🙂 (totally blushing). Um… not sure if you know this, but I used to serve at Chili’s! I worked there for almost 2 years, so I am familiar with their food. I actually have a few copy cat recipes on my site from Chili’s. Anywho- that being said, I know for a fact that they change their menu every 3 months and introduce new food. I have not had this Margarita Flatbread, but it does sound delicious. Next time I am at Chili’s I’ll give it a try and see what I can do for ya! 🙂

LOL my hubby and I do that too with netflix and the library. There are too many football games to watch and keep up on regular tv shows – way more fun to watch a couple episodes at a time with a large bowl of popcorn! 🙂 The library has an amazing selection of tv shows. We are currently obsessed with “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory” 🙂
Shawn
Thanks for the suggestions! I think we will have to start one of those when we are done with our current shows! 🙂

Mini-bags of ketchup flavored chips?! Oh dear! What a funny tradition. I love the Jillian DVDs too! I do one while my youngest is taking a nap. They’re just long enough that my 3-year-old doesn’t get mad at me for ignoring her 😉
Shawn
Nap times are the best thing in the world!! 🙂

Thanks for these ideas.
BTW mini bags of chips have long been part of Halloween up here in Canada. I didn’t realize they aren’t as popular in the States. 😉
Shawn
I am pretty sure we’ve been given a bag of chips or two when we were living in the States while trick-or-treating, but this time we ended up with close to 30 bags! Not complaining… I do love me some chips! 😉
