Sweet & Sticky Bacon Wrapped Dates

If you’re looking for a last minute appetizer to blow the roof off your New Year’s Eve party then I have the perfect one-bite app for you!

Can we talk about Dates and pretend I’m not 90 years old for a minute?

Dates are awesome.

They are deliciously sweet, and full of healthy fiber! {why are you looking at me like I’m 90?}

I stuffed these tasty little gems with a chive and onion cream cheese then wrapped them in bacon, sprinkled with brown sugar and finally drizzled in sticky maple syrup.

When buying your dates, make sure to get the pitted ones, so it’s super easy to fill.

I used a frosting bag and tip to pipe the cream cheese into the dates.

Get some maple bacon and cut the strips into thirds, then wrap each date and secure it with a toothpick.

This appetizer comes together in just minutes, and even faster with little helpers.

Once your dates are dressed in bacon, give them a quick coating of brown sugar.

Line up all your bacon wrapped dates on a foil lined baking sheet and drizzle with some maple syrup.

Throw them into the oven till the bacon gets crisp and browned.

The cream cheese inside is a lovely contrast to the sweet and smokey exterior. Those who are not fans of dates will be pleasantly surprised at just how good this appetizer really is. They are a fun finger food for all ages – not just 90 year olds.

Sweet & Sticky Bacon Wrapped Dates

I stuffed these tasty little gems with a chive and onion cream cheese then wrapped them in bacon, sprinkled with brown sugar and finally drizzled in sticky maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 35 dates, pitted
  • 1 package of maple bacon, cut into thirds
  • 1/2 cup chive and onion cream cheese spread, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Maple syrup, for drizzling
  • 35 toothpicks
  • frosting bag, fitted with small round tip

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Scoop cream cheese spread into frosting bag (fitted with small round tip). Place the round tip into the hole of the pitted date and squeeze cream cheese into date. Repeat process with all the dates.
  3. Take a small strip of bacon and wrap it around each date, securing it with a toothpick through the center.
  4. Lightly sprinkle all sides of the dates with brown sugar and place on a foil lined baking sheet. Drizzle with maple syrup and bake for 10 minutes. Flip each date over and bake for an additional 10 minutes, until bacon is browned and crispy.
  5. Remove from baking sheet and enjoy warm.

    I use them in place of sugar when I make bean brownies.
    I eat them out of the bag, I stuff them with cheese or ham or salami..
