It was a no brainer when the idea for this Super Easy Tagalong Pound Cake came to me. But the truth is, I almost didn’t want to share it here on the blog.
Tagalong Girl Scout cookies are one of my favorite cookies because they combine two of my loves – chocolate and peanut butter.
You see, this pound cake is almost too easy, I thought you might scoff at it’s easiness.
Super Easy Tagalong Pound Cake
But then I got to thinking… quick and easy desserts are like, amazing. So why wouldn’t you love this one?!
Especially since it’s a moist pound cake that’s topped with a deliciously sweet peanut butter filling and then covered in a layer of luscious chocolate.
Here’s the crazy easy part – I used a frozen pre-made pound cake!
You can find them in the freezer section near the desserts. They defrost in seconds in the microwave, but I just left mine on the counter for about 20 minutes before I topped it with a super simple peanut butter mixture (that tastes like the inside of a Reese’s… for reals!).
It took just a few minutes for me to whip up this crazy delicious dessert, so I think that’s a win!
If you’re a chocolate and peanut butter fan, or a Tagalong Girl Scout cookie fan, or just a fan of quick and easy desserts, then this one is definitely for you!
Please tell me you love simple desserts like this!

Just LOVE this recipe … thanks so much, Shawn, for sharing!!!
Though I am a BIG LOVER of PEANUT BUTTER and want to try this easy cake, my mind wandered on to how a cake like this would taste if I put a layer of Caramel (the less sweet kind like frosting on Caramel Cake) and Sea Salt instead of, or even in addition to, the peanut butter layer!!! YUMMY!!!!
Sammie-Jo
This looks amazing! Does the pound cake need to be frozen though? Would this recipe work with a homemade pound cake?
Shawn
You could definitely make it with a homemade pound cake!
Melissa
Oh good golly!!!! I just make this “Super Hard” Dessert and had to taste test before I served it. Best cake EVER!!!! I will be making 3 of them this weekend for hubby to take to work on Monday!! Thank you so much!!!!
Shawn
So glad you enjoyed it!! 🙂
Lori
What a great idea~! I make a banana bread…do you think this technique would work on a homemade loaf like that as well?
Shawn
Um, YES! That sounds amazing!!
Karla Wyatt
I was wondering if you could make a chocolate ganache and use that instead of chococlate candy?
Shawn
A chocolate ganache would work as well!
teresa
Looks so yummy! What do you mean by chocolate candy melts??
Shawn
Candy Melts are sold by the regular chocolate chips. They just melt easier and are better for dipping and coating.
Kim Gecik
Hi! Once this was done where did you store it? Just wondering if it should be refrigerated.
Shawn
Hi Kim, you don’t need to refrigerate it. It can be stored covered on the counter top.
Olga Riofrio
This looks fantastic.
I don’t like peanut butter.
But I am a fan number 1 of chocolates.
Olga.

Oh my! I just found your blog from reading Crazy For Crust’s 10 blogs you should be reading. I’m making this tonight, though I will have to make my pound cake (with a mix) because I don’t have a frozen one. I can’t wait to taste it!! I also can’t wait to have some time to look through all your recipes. So many beautiful pictures.
Judy

Shawn
Thanks Judy! 🙂

Have you ever cut the pound cake lengthwise in half, and do the same to middle and top of cake. As a huge tandycake fan I love a good ratio of peanut butter and chocolate to cake. I may try and see how it works. Thanks for idea.
Cass
There is a sheet cake with the peanut butter and chocolate that is called a tandycake sheet cake. No one can stop at one piece!
Hayley @ The Domestic Rebel
This is INSANITY, girlfran’! I cannot believe you used a frozen prepared pound cake and you managed to doctor it up to this level of awesomeness. I must try!
Meriem @ Culinary Couture
I died when I saw this on Instagram! Looks so delish!

Love your site. I have a favor to ask…where can I get a copy of the picture on the header of your newsletter…it is something I would love to embroidery on a curtain for my kitchen.
Shawn
Thanks Bonnie! The header of my newsletter is my logo, feel free to grab the image, but I’m afraid I don’t have a very high resolution image of it to share with you.
Bonnie Atkins
thank you …but it will not allow me to do that. Bummer!

If you’re on a computer press Print Screen then open up Paint or Adobe and paste, edit/crop and print. If you’re on a phone take a screen shot (iPhone is home key and lock key same time pressed) then open in photos and edit/crop and print or email it to a computer if you don’t have a wireless printer.
Erin @ Miss Scrambled Egg
Wow. Mind blown. I love all of the girl scout cookie recipes this time of year. This one makes me really happy!
Shawn
Thanks Erin! 🙂

This looks so good. I saw the pic on Foodgawker and I want to make this ASAP! Oh, and I totally agree with you- sometimes the easiest desserts are the best to have on hand. 🙂
Shawn
I know, the easy desserts are my favorite. 🙂
Wanda Kraus
Oh, I am so going to take your recipe for the Samoas Bon Bons and incorporate it with this pound cake. Thank you for the idea! (I like peanut butter but caramel and coconut beat all….)
Shawn
That’s a fabulous idea Wanda! 🙂
Wanda Kraus
Thanks but I give you all the credit for this….both your ideas and recipes. Love following you!
Wanda Kraus
Will chocolate chips work as well as the chocolate candy melts? What if I add a little bit of Crisco to the chocolate chips?
Shawn
Regular chocolate chips should work just fine. I would add a tsp or two of coconut oil to the chocolate if it is too thick. If you don’t have coconut oil, crisco will work just fine! 🙂
Wanda Kraus
Thank you…thank you….thank you!
michelle
Chocolate chips are designed not to melt, you would be better off using chunks of the square stuff!
Linda-Rae Nichols
So you do the peanut butter in 2 steps? Just clarifying…..
Shawn
Yes, I spread it on top twice.
