This Strawberry Julius Recipe is super refreshing and made with fresh strawberries!
I’m crazy happy right now.
I have been spending countless hours working on beautifying the front and backyard of our little house over the past week. While that might not sound like a lot of fun, it actually has been extremely satisfying to me. I have never claimed to be a gardener, in fact I am positive I have claimed the opposite on this blog before, but I am giving it another go. Last week, with the help of a friend, I ripped out a good section of grass in the front yard to plant a flower bed. Upon completion of said flower bed, I was feeling slightly confident so I decided to tackle a vegetable garden in the backyard.
Naturally.
Gardening is so much more than floppy sun hats and tiny shovels. It’s friends and conversations. It’s learning and growth. It’s also a lot of hard work…
While I was in laboring over my garden in the front yard several neighbors would walk by and conversations would flow, cheers of encouragement were shouted, and friendships were born. My sweet friend that helped me start my garden also generously pulled beautiful tulips and other flowers out of her garden so I could have something beautiful to look at in mine. When I told her that I was going to build a vegetable garden in my backyard she quickly offered up several strawberry plants from hers.
I can’t wait till these little green saplings grow and turn into ruby red strawberries. That way I can make my gardening buddy a cool and refreshing Strawberry Julius.
Nothing says “Summer” quite like plump and juicy strawberries.
After several hours of working on the yard, I decided it was time to cool off with a Strawberry Julius. Instantly I am transported back to Junior High, cruising the mall with my BFF’s in our jellies; frothy Strawberry Julius in one hand, pager in the other.
If you’re looking for a sweet treat to spoil yourself with this Mother’s Day, then sip on this throw-back drink. It’ll bring you right back to your pre-mothering days in a flash, and give you 5 minutes of relaxation before you realize that mound of laundry piling up in the corner isn’t going to fold itself.
Better yet, get the kids to fold the laundry… right after they whip you up another Strawberry Julius.
Kick up your feet and enjoy your day… you’ve earned it.
Cheers!

I walked into my dairy queen yesterday and what did I see on the menu but Orange Julius. I got one and it was so good I slurpped it down fast and ordered another. All the Julius stores have closed down years ago so when I saw that on the menu I couldn’t help myself.

I am not sure but the white powder would be egg whites. You can purchase this powder in any store that sales cake decorating supplies. I know wall mark, hobby lobby and target has it. I have used the egg white powder in many recipes and it works great. I use to estate ice cream cakes and this was wat we used in the icing recipes. This may help.

FYI
Many years ago I worked on weekends in one of my uncle’s Orange Julius stands. The original recipe went like this: Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice, Simple Syrup, Ice Cubes & “Secret Powder”…the white powder came from the corporation no ingredients listed…put all in a blender and….WHOOSH!!!!
For a special pick me up …add a raw egg, for special taste treat add strawberries.

OOOH!! I love when I get secret insider recipes! I wonder if the white powder was simply powdered sugar?? I have a Pineapple Orange Julius Recipe (http://iwashyoudry.com/2012/05/31/pineapple-orange-julius/) that calls for powdered sugar… interesting!!
Norm
No Shawn it wasn’t sugar…in fact it tasted like a tasteless Whey base (obviously mixed with some other stuff) like the power drinks my wife whips up. Between the fresh orange juice & the simple syrup it was plenty sweet…the powder gives it the froth.

Oh man, I had a few pairs of jellies too! That and Orange Julius bring back memories. This looks wonderful. A nice summer drink. 🙂

Thanks Crystal, I’m sure jellies will make a comeback soon…

This is such a pretty drink! I want to plant some strawberries!

Thanks Stephanie, I always had the worst luck with planting gardens in Arizona. Hoping that I have better luck this summer up here in Canada. 😉
