Do you ever have days when you feel like the odds are just not in your favor?
Like no matter how hard you try you just can’t seem to catch a break?
That was me, all day last Saturday.
I was throwing my baby her 1st birthday party. Nothing too extravagant. Just a few family members over for a hot dog party.
The day seemed to be going well at first, even though my husband (aka- The Man) had to go into work this one particular Saturday. So I had all four kids at home trying to clean up, and prepare for the party.
I was trying extra hard to channel my new friend Sandy’s advice from Reluctant Entertainer. No stress.
The first mishap happened when I tried to pull out the birthday cake from the oven and it slipped out of my grasp and fell onto the oven door.
Cake. Everywhere.
Thanks to twitter and my lovely foodie friends I was able to make lemonade out of lemons, and created a cake that worked with what I had. Nobody else was the wiser.
Then about 20 minutes before guests are to arrive my birthday girl crawled over to the pantry and opened up the door.
She pulled out a can of ginger ale {cause we’re 90 years old over here} and dropped it on the tile floor at just the right angle.
Soda. Everywhere.
I quickly pulled out a few towels and wiped up (husband is still not home yet) and then tried a quick mop of the area.
Luckily it only took a few mops before the sticky-ness of the ginger ale wore off.
Shortly after my husband arrived home everything went fairly smooth. Of course.
The moral of the story is just don’t stress about the little things, cause it’s all about having a good time in the end. Nobody will care about your sticky floor or the funky looking cake as long as everyone is laughing and enjoying the company.
Also it helps to have these Homemade Cookie Butter Drumsticks in the freezer for a back up.
Remember last week when I showed you how to create your own Magic Shell Ice Cream Topper??
Well I got a brilliant idea to use said Magic Shell and create my own Drumsticks.
Not just any old Drumsticks…
Cookie Butter Drumsticks.
I had a jar of Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter sitting in my pantry begging to be used. So I took Lori’s recipe for Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream and modified it to work with some cookie butter.
Oh my heavens.
Now you have an excuse to eat Cookie Butter by the spoonful.
It’s so rich and creamy and absolutely sinful.
When you place it in a sugar cone, dip it in Magic Shell, and then sprinkle it with nut topping… yeah, it’s pretty much Satan in ice cream’s clothing.
But it’s sooo goooood…
These did not last very long in our freezer.
Go ahead.
Make.
Eat.
Repeat.
Homemade Cookie Butter Drumsticks
Ingredients
- 1 cup Cookie Butter
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 12 sugar cones
- Magic Shell Ice Cream Topper
- 1/2 cup Nut topping, found next to ice cream toppings at grocery store
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine cookie butter and sugar. Use an electric mixer to blend the two ingredients till smooth.
- Add the whole milk and continue to mix for about 2 minutes so the sugar has a chance to dissolve into the mixture.
- Add the cream and vanilla and mix for an additional minute.
- Turn on your pre-frozen ice cream maker and pour in the cookie butter base. Let churn till the ice cream starts to thicken (approximately 25-30 minutes). Ice cream will be soft serve consistency so place it in the freezer for an additional 2 hours to harden.
- Once it's harder, fill the inside of the cones with ice cream. Then place a scoop on top of the cone.
- Pour Magic Shell topping into a small bowl (but deep enough to completely submerge the ice cream)
- Carefully dip the ice cream portion into the prepared Magic Shell topping and let any excess drip back into the bowl.
- Quickly sprinkle with nut topping and place back into the freezer until ready to eat.
- Repeat with remaining ice cream cones.

When I read drumsticks, I thought of chicken. So Cookie Butter (Chicken) Drumsticks were confusing to me. Luckily these were ice cream Drumsticks! =)

Shawn
That makes me sad too. I think everyone should know the joys of cookie butter. Maybe look for the alternative Biscoff Spread??
ATasteOfMadness
I can’t believe Canada doesn’t sell cookie butter!! This looks fantastic! I wish I could have one of these right now!
Shawn
Maybe they have Biscoff Spread in your local supermarket? That would be basically the same thing.
carrian
Cute! I’ve never heard of cookie butter!
Shawn
oh my…I’m so sorry Carrian! It’s from Trader Joe’s. It’s “A deliciously unusual spread reminiscent of gingerbread and made with crushed biscuits.” In other words, it’s like eating cookies in peanut butter form. ie: Heaven.
Cassie
These are so fun Shawn! I love cookie butter!!
