Grocery Budget Challenge & GIVEAWAY!!

The other day my sister-in-law asked me if it was expensive to cook the way I do.

I was shocked {for a couple of reasons}!!

By cooking and planning my meals the way I do, I am actually saving money! Not only do I save, but I am also making healthy choices for me and my family.

Want to save this recipe?

We'll email this recipe to you, so you can come back to it later!

That made me think…

I want to challenge everyone out there to meal planning and budgeting! Look over your finances and find a weekly amount you can allot towards groceries.

Here’s the hard part….

Stick to it!

My budget is $100 a week for all my groceries and eating out. (Not including dates…those have a separate category on our budget!)

Every week I sit down and write out my menu for the week. (I try to plan it according to what I have on hand, so I am spending the least amount at the store)

A display of a filled out dinner menu.
{Want one of your own?? Keep reading!!}

Sunday- Surf and Turf Skewers with Roasted Corn on the Cob, Peppers and Onions

Monday- Halibut Ceviche

Tuesday- Greek Chicken Orzo Skillet

Wednesday- Pasta with Homemade Turkey Meatballs

Thursday- Chili Chicken Stir Fry

Friday-  Left overs

Saturday- Breakfast burritos with Fresh Fruit

Finally I get a list pad and make my grocery list, and off I go!

A display of food bought on a grocery trip.
So far this week I am at $63.81 {Not too bad!}
To start off the challenge right you’ll need a Dinner Menu Board! The one shown above is similar to the one I use (mine has green apples on it).
I am giving away not one, but
TWO Dinner Menu Boards!
Laminated blank dinner menus.
They have magnets on the back to stick to your fridge so you always know :”What’s for Dinner?” !!
They each come with a magnetic dry erase pen, so you can use your board over and over again!
All you have to do is:
1. Become a Follower {If you’re not already}
2. Leave a Comment telling me what your favorite sweet treat is!
Want more chances to win??
Tell others by either blogging, facebook or tweeting and link them back to my blog!
Giveaway closes next Monday (7/11) night at Midnight!
I’ll announce the winners Tuesday (7/12)!
Good Luck!!

  1. Hey! I love your blog. I told my family about it too so they can check it out. My favorite sweet treat is ice cream! I have many many more though.

  2. Already a follower (of coarse)! How do a choose a fav sweet treat?! Anything with peanut butter and chocolate together is HEAVEN!! Chocolate fountain ranks up there, blizzards from DQ, OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!! There's a challenge for you. I've been looking for the "perfect" Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe. Soft, oat-ie, not too much cinnamon, no nuts, fluffy-not flat! cookies that don't harden after a day. THere's a challenge for you sista!

  3. Hey…this is garage sale girl again…the one with the 4 screaming kids in the car…my blog is lavenderstreets.tumblr.com. I forgot to put it on my last post, so thought you could see my ideas.
    See ya!

  4. I'm a new follower. Love your dinner ideas!! I'm going to have to "borrow" your dinner menu because I am sooo not creative when it comes time to think up ideas!! My favourite sweet treat…Laffy Taffy!

  5. Hey, met you today at the garage sale! Loved the cookies. My kids were so pleasured when I returned to the car with treats instead of another basket.

    My ABSOLUTE favorite dessert, to date, is flourless chocolate cake. My friend made it on the 4th, and I not only got goosebumps, but shed a little tear. It was not dessert, it was an experience. The end of the search if you love chocolate…and I do.

  6. My favorite sweet treat today is creme brulee. Too bad the kitchen torch scares the crap out of me so I can't make it for myself.
