I got this great idea from Dairy Queen. They have a blizzard there during the holidays that is called Candy Cane Chill. It has bits of candy canes and chocolate swirled together with creamy vanilla ice cream. I’m a bit obsessed with it… naturally. I wanted to recreate it but in the most simplest form possible because I didn’t want to have to make my own ice cream.

I grabbed some vanilla ice cream, a little milk, and a big scoop of cool whip. The cool whip gives it that thick milkshake texture that is unbelievable good. I whirled it all around with a few candy canes and some chocolate chips.

Brilliance.

The candy canes turn the milkshake a beautiful shade of light pink and give it loads of refreshing peppermint flavor.

Go snag some candy canes and make this shake!

  1. Just made this and not enough words to describe how good. All of my kids LOVED it and getting 5 kids to agree on anything is rare.

  2. OMG. Can you imagine if your mum made things like this.
    Happiest kids EVER.
She have obviously been sent from heaven.
And on that note, is the angel who created this incredible piece of art married.?
Coz you had me at candy. marry me!

    1. No need to crush the candy canes before hand, the blender does all the crushing for you! 🙂

  3. I make a heavenly candy with Ande’s peppermint bits (and I don’t care much for peppermint), so I wonder if
we couldn’t use those instead of the candy canes?

  4. With the unusually warm weather this time of year on the East coast, this recipe is perfect. How would you make this a little sweeter?

    1. I suppose if you wanted it even sweeter you could add a tablespoon or two of sugar? I felt that it was plenty sweet as is though. Enjoy!
