Halloween is slowly becoming one of my favorite holidays. These Halloween Dinner Ideas will knock your socks off!
A few years back I thought it was ridiculous how people would try to purposely scare little kids. But now… I want MY door to be the one that little kids are too afraid to come and knock!
See what nearly 8 years of marriage and 4 kids will do to you?!?
This year I threw a little dinner party with a Halloween Theme all centered around Mummies! Each course was wrapped in some sort of way, and it was all Italian food.
In the center of my table I had a brew of dry ice root beer going, which was a ton of fun for the kids to watch bubble and fog over!
I made some simple place mats out of felt and a couple googly eyes. I just used hot glue to piece it all together.
Halloween Dinner Ideas For Kids:
Since I had a few extra kids coming over, and their taste buds aren’t always so appreciative… I made them some fun creepy things for dinner.
- Mummy Dogs! {hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls with mustard eyes}
- Pumpkin Brains– {hallowed out small pumpkin with macaroni salad inside}
- Mud Pie with Worms! {chocolate pudding, Oreo cookie crumbs, and gummy worms}
Grown Up Halloween Dinner Ideas:
For the grown ups we started off with a wrapped Caesar Salad! {make a Caesar Salad and put it on top of a leaf of butter lettuce. Wrap it up and eat like you would a lettuce wrap}
For our main course I made Mummy Wrapped Calzones with Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus. These were so fun to make and tasted so good!
These are classic Italian calzones with no marinara sauce inside. The sauce is on the outside for dipping, while also looking like blood!
Here is a picture tutorial on how to put them together:
We ended with another classic Italian dish- Cannolis!
It was a good meal with great company!
Mummy Calzones
Ingredients
- 2 batches Pizza Dough
- 16 meatballs
- 1 cup Ricotta Cheese
- 1 1/2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp dried basil leaves
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 5 oz sliced mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, basil, mushrooms and olives into a large bowl, including the meatballs (reserving a few meatballs and sliced olives for the mummy eyes) and mix together.
- Divide pizza dough into 8 equal dough balls.
- Roll out dough into small circles, and place a nice helping of Ricotta mixture in the center.
- Take a knife and make slices in the dough horizontally along the sides of the mixture, leaving a larger slice on the top and bottom.
- Fold the bottom of the calzone up towards the top.
- Start over-lapping the dough across the body of the mummy from the bottom working your way up to the top.
- Leave room for the eyes (two meatballs with olives) to stick out the top. Place on a pizza pan or baking sheet.
- Brush with a lightly beaten egg and bake for 30 minutes. Serve with a small dish of marinara or spaghetti sauce.

Aren’t you dying to see every one’s cute costumes?!?
We had a family of Pirates who just got off the boat and stopped by to search for treasure.
Can’t forget about our neighborhood super heroes! Always there to save the day!
Last but not least- Two pigs and a flock of Angry Birds!
So what are you or your kids going to be this year?! But more importantly… are you ready to scare some little kids??
