Parmesan Roasted Asparagus is the perfect way to prepare those gorgeous green spears this season!
Parmesan Roasted Asparagus is a super quick, 15 minute, vegetable side dish that you’re going to LOVE!
I took my favorite Parmesan Roasted Potatoes and switched out the spuds for some gorgeous green spears. The best part was that it was such a simple side dish, it was ready in less than 15 minutes!
And I may or may not have devoured the entire tray all by myself…
Ok, not the whole tray… just 80% of it.
I can’t help but fall in love with Spring time more and more every year. It’s because I find all sorts of new ways to enjoy fresh produce like asparagus. My kids love asparagus too, so it’s really a no brainer for us.
This asparagus was actually the first thing I cooked in my new wall oven! I still don’t have a kitchen sink though, so I cleverly made this side dish with as few dishes as possible. I just combined all the ingredients in a zip close bag, shook it up and roasted it on my baking sheet. If you cover your baking sheet with tinfoil, there are virtually no dishes to clean up!
Ummm… can you guys agree with me that those little browned parmesan crispies are like the best thing ever?
Swooooon.
Some things to think about when making this delicious side dish:
- If you don’t mind doing the extra dishes, you can definitely use a bowl to toss your asparagus in.
- Spread out your asparagus to give them room so they roast evenly
- Enjoy the asparagus right away for ultimate taste and texture
- If you’re trying to avoid gluten, simply omit the breadcrumbs
You’re seriously going to love (and devour) this simple side dish!

How many does this recipe feed?
Kelcey
I find that the bag you use is this recipe is unnecessary and wasteful. Its a bit ironic since your site is I wash you dry, would you consider the environment and use a washable bowl in your recipes instead. Imagine how many of your users also use a plastic bag and then throw them away, that is a lot of plastic.

You do know that you can recycle a zip-loc bag, right? You wash and dry it and use it again. I do it all the time for anything other than raw meats.
Shadia
She did say she was using as few dishes as possible in her post, as she doesn’t have a sink right now. read please. And yes, I love to reuse my bags as well…

Can you prep the asparagus and leave in fridge until you’re ready to bake? Maybe adding cheese right before?
Shawn
Yeah, I think you could prep these ahead of time and pop in the oven when ready. 🙂

I have done this recipe with green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and of course asparagus. It makes every vegetable taste out of this world.

I make mine the same way , they taste amazing!!! My family really loves them!!!
Cindy
Do they get tender and not stringer? I love asparagus but never cooked them. Only eaten canned from grocery. Sometimes they are hard stringy pieces and don’t like that. These look good!
Shawn
The asparagus will be crisp tender, they shouldn’t be stringy. 🙂
Ellen
Make sure you rim the ends as shown they Should be fine.

Fixing Cornish hens & a green salad (so far..I may add a couple servings of brown rice pilaf), but I’m a HUGE veggie’nista..had some asparagus in the fridge that is in dire need of cooking before that high cost goes down the drain..jumped on pinterest & yours was the 1st recipe that came up. Don’t have fresh Parm, but I’ve got the Kraft powder so guess what…I’ll try to remember to post a pic L8R!
MsRecipeGuru329
It was absolutely De-Li-Cious! I did everything except the fresh Parm, but I added a few shakes of the Kraft Parmesan-Romano to the bag, shook it up, emptied it onto the baking sheet, added a slight drizzle of honey and shook on some more of the Kraft Parm-Rom cheese. I’ll have to add a picture next time; I literally ate them off the sheet like they were Lays! Definitely a keeper!

Love this – perfect side dish for a summer meal. But honestly I would eat as the actual meal. Making next week. Scheduled to share on FB, pinned and yummed.
Shawn
Thanks so much San! 🙂

This asparagus was SO good! Big hit even with people that are normally reluctant to eat asparagus. I will definitely keep making this!
Shawn
Awesome! So glad you guys enjoyed it Starla! 🙂
Ashley
Thinking of doing this for Easter. How many would this serve?
Shawn
I would guess 4 people, but it all depends on how much one person can eat… 😉

Asparagus is something that we use as a treat because it’s quite expensive but I’m going to try my hand at growing some this year. My 12 year old is addicted to it and since he loves Parmesan cheese, I think he’d like it fixed like this too!
Shawn
My kids go bananas for asparagus as well. Great idea to plant your own. We are in the process of getting our garden planned out right now. I’ll have to see if I can grow asparagus too! 🙂
Dale Stary
We have 3 thirty foot rows of asparagus in our garden. We all love it. We make frittatas with eggs, diced onion, potatoes (cubed) and asparagus for breakfast all the time. Dig your trenches deep if you plant them yourself. 10 – 12 inches deep, with a little mound of soil in the middle of the trench, spread the roots of the asparagus plants, over the hill you made in the trench and backfill over it. Water it well initially. They last for years and years,. Don’t pick any until about the 3rd year. I mulch mine to keep the weeds down. Good luck and enjoy. You can lightly till them every spring just before forsythia comes out. Make sure you only till down about 2-3 inches deep so you don’t hit the roots or plants before they pop up in the Spring.
