Let’s be honest with each other for a moment.
As much as we want to spend hours baking, gluing, and glittering the crap out of paper hearts for our children’s classmates, we need to be realistic. There are so many fancy and cute crafts to do all over Pinterest, but I am a mother of 4.
My days are filled with laundry, dishes, and feeding my never-ending hungry children.
Maybe you don’t have 4 kids, but you do have a life. {and I am jealous of that} You have precious time that can be better spent pinning crafts on Pinterest that you have no intention of ever doing.
That’s why I created these simple, easy, and totally adorable “You Melt My Heart” Cookie Valentines.
These are so easy that your kid could do them by themselves. But if you’re anything like me, you’ll totally take over because they aren’t doing it cute enough… {I have issues}
All you need is a big pack of some vanilla creme cookies, some colored melting chocolates, and a big tub of conversation hearts.
You can find the melting chocolates at a craft store in the candy/cake decorating isle. They even sell them at WalMart.
Melt down the chocolate in the microwave according to the package instructions and pour just a teaspoon full on top of a cookie. Push the chocolate to the sides of the cookie to make it look like a melting puddle, then place the same colored conversation heart right in the center.
To get the chocolate to smooth out a little more, just tap the cookie gently on the counter till the chocolate starts to run down the sides, and is smooth on top.
Let them dry and you’re done!
Package them up in little Valentines Day goody bags with more conversation hearts and a little note that says, “You Melt My Heart.”
These cookies are everything a kid could want.
Cookie…. check
Chocolate…. check
Candy…. check
Easy to make….. double check.

So I am a year late—but just still in time for Valentine’s Day 2014. I was wondering if breaking a wafer in half and then on the cookie and put in the toaster oven for a minute or two would melt the wafer. They may need to be smeared a bit to puddle; but a spoon w/ each color instead of a bowl w/ melted wafer & spoon seems like less work. Also less dishes to wash,
Anyway, going to give it a go & will report back.

Interesting thought, I’m not sure if that would work, but do let me know what you find out! I don’t have a toaster oven or I would try it myself. 🙂
