It’s hard to find the perfect pear. I always seem to find pears that are hard like an apple and super grainy.
So when I received this beautiful gift basket from Harry & David filled with gorgeous pears, I was hesitant to take a big bite. Boy was I in for a pleasant surprise. Their pears are at the peak of perfection. So juicy and soft as it melts in your mouth.
I’m a Harry & David pear convert.
If you’re looking for the perfect gift to send to a loved one this Holiday season, then look to Harry & David. They have gobs and gobs of mouthwatering gift baskets that will put a smile on any face… and they know it too!
As soon as you open the box you will be in shock at how much care is put into making sure each and every basket is special.
Golden wrapped pears, beautiful ribbon bows…
and even a little card to let you know who packed it!
Talk about feeling special!
There are so many precious gifts in this one basket, and all taste oh-so amazing.
And then there are even more pears underneath it all! BONUS!!
I took these deliciously juicy pears and made a Pear, Goat Cheese and Honey Tart.
It’s a simple and extremely tasty appetizer or even dessert that everyone will love. The combination of the pears and goat cheese is heavenly. It’s mildly sweet with a creamy smooth taste, then made just a tad sweeter with some honey drizzled on top.
Just look at how juicy these pears are! I am wishing I still had some left… time to order another basket!
Cut some pears into thin slices and layer them onto a sheet of puff pastry dough.
Top the pears with a little goat cheese then bake until the puff pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Once it’s pulled out of the oven, drizzle a little honey over the top.
Cut the tart into strips, or slices and serve warm. It makes for a delicious appetizer or even a decadent dessert.
I love this.
My kids loved it.
You will love this.
Promise.

The best present I’ve ever given (or one of the bests) is a photo album I made for my dad. I’ve always had a hard time shopping for him a present, and he was genuinely surprised and pleased when he received it. 🙂

Years ago I surprised my neighbor down the street by offering to come cook her meals for a few weeks as she was recovering after childbirth. It left an indellible mark on my heart because I just didn’t realize how much she really needed that and appreciated it.

I wife and I took our parents on a cruise. We all shared a milestone anniversary within a few month span. We also wanted to express our gratitude for them watching our children when my wife and I worked at the same time. We have strange hours and about once a week their grandparents watch them overnight. They all love it but we still felt as though they deserved something nice in return for being there for us.

The best present I’ve given, upto now, were calendars I made for a couple of friends. They took me a couple of months to make because it was basically like making two whole scrapbooks but it was totally worth it when I saw the looks on their faces when they opened them!

My favorite gift was a pair of earrings my husband gave me for my first Mother’s day. But I do just want to say that I have never had a bad pear from Harry and David. They are the best things ever! Especially with a bit of Stilton. Yum!

What a wonderful opportunity! The best gift I’ve ever received was a proposal trip to the US Virgin Islands, St. Thomas when my husband proposed to me! He took off work for me without me knowing, had it all booked and planned! He chartered a private catameran boat for us and proposed to me on a private beach. I was blown away!
Your recipe looks awesome, thanks for sharing!

I think the best gift I have ever given was to my husband when we first started dating. I took a shoe box and decorated it with words and pictures about us. We had a long distance relationship at the time, so I filled it with things that reminded him of me like my chapstick and homemade cookies.

One year for Valentine’s Day I decided to make my hubby some cute little “love bugs”! Using chocolate hugs, wire mesh and cellophane which I made into tiny wings, and google eyes, I created a whole army of sweet little buggers (it took hours). Wrapped gently and placed in a dressed up box, I waited anxiously for my husband to see my surprise. Unfortunately…my parents dachshunds got to them before my husband did…and ate the whole box! He never did get to see any of my little creations, but I still consider them the “sweetest” gift!

My husband has always been obsessed with surfing and the ocean, so I saved and saved and surprised him with his very own surfboard!

The best present I ever gave someone was to my son and his wife. When they became engaged, I invited them to look over the quilts I had made throughout my life. They happened to choose my favorite one. I gave it to them at their bridal shower.

As for the best present I’ve ever given someone, I can’t imagine what it could be! I like to think the best gift I have given has been my time. I don’t always have a lot of money to spend but I like to spend my time with people: my family, friends, and new friends. In 2005 I started going to Managua, Nicaragua right after Thanksgiving to visit an orphanage. During our visit we celebrate Christmas. I have missed two years since 2005, this is one of those years as we have to move in January (hubby’s job relocation). I suppose my gift of time to others really ended up becoming a gift to me, as the children and the people of Managua have become wonderful friends…and family 🙂

I love pears! My whole family loves them. I know the value of goat cheese and hone and believe this will be a fabulous treat! Thanks for sharing it and for the opportunity to win the Mistletoe Basket!

The best present I ever gave was to my brother’s mother in law, her husband had suddenly passed away and, as an entertainer, had many upcoming shows. I personally called each and every client and told them that he would not be able to fulfill his prior commitments, it was a tough thing for some of his clients to hear as well, since some of them had known him for years. I decided to make those calls so that the family did not have to relive the moment, the shock, the emotions, over and over. It was the best way I could give to them during such a trying time.

I write piano music but don’t have anything written down. I audiorecorded all of my songs on a DVD and gave it to hubs for our anniversary one year. He loved it.

Harry & David is the BEST!

I LOVE Harry & David! They have the only pears and smoked salmon that I will eat. 🙂 The best gift I’ve ever given someone? Well, even though it wasn’t all my doing (must give the credit to God on this one 😉 ), I was able to help give my husband our first son on Father’s Day…he always says that was the best Father’s Day present he’s ever received. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Mellissa
The gift I gave was to my mother & father-in-law. My husband’s family is very large, so I made a ‘family-tree’ quilt. I sent fabric swatches to each of the families for them to return their ‘handprints’. I then made a tree with branches, each branch represented a family. It was so large, I made a queen size quilt. I was so happy with it and my in-laws loved it!
Stacey
I have LONG been a fan of Harry & David. The first time I had one of their pears, it was practically a religious experience.

My sister and I gave my mom a blanket that had our daughter’s names on it. It says something along the lines of whenever you touch this heart you will know that we love you. She almost cried when she opened it.

The best Christmas gift I ever gave was our eldest son to my husband. He was born on Thanksgiving and after so many problems we celebrated a wonderful Christmas morning with our new “gift”. Nothing else was needed and since times were very tough we were grateful for our bundle of Joy. We were blessed to have our second son 3 years later on Presidents Day.

This basket looks incredible! I LOVE all Harry & David product and look forward to trying this Pear & Honey Tart.

Best present I’ve ever received was a set of ice cream dishes and the story behind them, written by my sweet mom. The dishes were ones she remembered from her childhood and were given to her by her mother, who remembered them from HER childhood. Wonderful!
