Ok peeps, listen up! This lady I am about to introduce to you, could very well be my “sista-from-anotha-mista” . Krista is the genius behind Budget Gourmet Mom, and also a dear friend of mine. We first met in the blogging universe over a year and a half ago…maybe longer. It wasn’t until this past May that we actually met in person, and I am not joking when I say we are two of a kind.
She has 4 kids, I have 4 kids. (and all are within a few months of eachother)
She loves Diet Coke, I love Diet Dr. Pepper {ok, we’re not twins…but close enough!}
I knew she would come up with a fun, clever, and not to mention budget friendly lunch recipe for kids so I set her to work. She done good. Take it away Krista!
Oh my goodness do you have as tough of a time as I do getting your kids to eat celery!?
Seriously. What is the deal!?
Okay, I guess I’m not a big fan of raw celery either but I have heard it has so few
calories that you actually burn calories as you chew. I don’t know how true that is
but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Especially if that means I can take a
bite of cookie after each celery stalk and break even. Yes ma’am.
I had no problem diving in to these Ants on a Log along with the kids who, by the
way, said {and I quote} “mmm, these are yummy!”
It also helped that we happen to be celebrating letter A this week during our Alphabet
Summer. For some reason celebrating with food always seems to get the kids
excited. And with four boys “ants on a log” sounds awesome. Bugs for lunch…sign
me up!
Bringing the apple cheddar wraps to the party were actually an after thought. In
fact, Shawn can tell you I was down to the wire with this post because I couldn’t
decide on the main course.
If you know me then you know cheese is never far from my mind and what kid doesn’t
love quesadillas? So a cheesy apple wrap was born.
The kids loved it. I loved it. They ate celery. It was a proud moment.
Enjoy your proud moment while your kids enjoy theirs. Oh, and don’t forget to make
one for yourself.

Ants on a log are such a classic! Love the idea of apple and cheddar and putting them together in a quesadilla is genius. Kid-friendly but adult-worthy.
