Combine the warm water and sugar in the bowl of your stand mixer until the sugar is dissolved, then sprinkle the top of the water with the yeast. Let this mixture proof (let the yeast activate) for 5 minutes.
Add in the softened butter, 3 cups of flour, salt and Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix. Use your dough hook in your stand mixer to combine, adding an additional 1/4 cup of flour at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Let the mixer knead the dough for 3 to 5 minutes.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot for 20 minutes. Punch down dough and shape into 12 equal size balls and place in a lightly greased 9x13 baking pan. Cover and let rise an additional 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and bake for 15 to 17 minutes, until tops are golden brown. Remove from oven and brush with the melted butter. Enjoy!
Notes
If you do not have a stand mixer, you can mix the dough with a sturdy wooden spoon, then knead on a lightly floured surface until slightly tacky to the touch but not sticky.
