They taste phenomenal with just a touch of spice and garlic. The best part is that they’re ready to enjoy in just about 10 minutes!

The Best Black Beans Recipe

Your Mexican entree is now complete thanks to this awesome side dish.

You obviously don’t have to drown them in chopped cilantro like I did, but you certainly can if you want. I’m not here to stand in your way. Cilantro is my friend. It’s also one of those ingredients that I am constantly thinking I am out of when I am at the grocery store. Yesterday I looked in my fridge and found 3 bunches of cilantro… hmm…

Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this!!(??)

Hi Shawn, I'm 58 years old and have been comfortable in the kitchen since I was a young boy with my mother as my mentor (little did I know at the time; in fact I have her Betty Crocker Cookbook from 1942!). I've been searching sources of ideas from the internet and your postings are very interesting, simple & tasty! thank you.

I love black beans but every time I tried to make them at home they never tasted as good as the restaurant's version until I made these. They were SOOO good and full of wonderful flavor. I love it that the recipe includes using canned black beans because soaking beans and cooking them takes way too long for this girl. Thanks for the wonderful recipe, this will definitely be a staple in my household.

Is it possible to make this recipe but drain the beans, or does it change it a lot? Something about not draining them kinda grosses me out..
    1. You could drain them, but it will change the consistency of the finished product. You could add some lard or bacon fat in there to give it more of that creamy consistency.
  4. Whoa! I went a bit heavy on the cayenne pepper, but man, this sure was a good and easy recipe for black beans! And best of all is it's vegan, so when one of my vegan friends show up I'll be able to whip up something good and healthy with simple staple items. Too bad I rarely have fresh cilantro at home, though, as that's what really took it from good to great in my opinion. Thanks for sharing!

Have you ever heard about Feijoada? Is a brazilian dish, consists of a black beans stew with pork meat like sausage and ribs. Its super tasty!
  6. I didn't even know I needed a good black bean recipe but after seeing this post I'm certain its what's been missing from my life. We eat a ton of black beans at our house, but I've just been using the right out of the can. Seriously, these look delicious and if it really only takes 7 minutes how can I not try it. Thanks for sharing!
